Our services include power system design, protective relay applications, automation and integration solutions, commissioning, and training.

Our Company

PRS was founded in January, 2015 and is privately owned by three partners:

William Rominger, PE received his BSEE, cum laude, from North Carolina State University. During his undergraduate studies, he completed an internship at ABB between 2003 and 2006. Upon graduating in 2006, he joined Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, Inc. (SEL) as an associate protection engineer in the engineering services division. In 2010, he was promoted to lead the protection group out of a primary field office. Presently, he is one of three engineering partners for Power Relaying Solutions, PLLC (PRS). He is an active member of IEEE and a professional engineer registered in Alabama, Indiana, Kentucky, Maine, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, and Texas.

Ken Melchior, PE received his BSEE and BSCPE, summa cum laude, from North Carolina State University and his MBA from Duke University's Fuqua School of Business. During his undergraduate studies, he completed several internship rotations with the Department of Defense (DOD) and Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, Inc. (SEL). Upon graduation in 2010, he joined the SEL Engineering Services division full time as a protection design engineer. In 2012, he was promoted to lead protection engineer and managed the design team out of a primary field office. Presently, he is one of the three engineering partners for Power Relaying Solutions, PLLC (PRS). He is an active member of IEEE and a professional engineer registered in Florida, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia.

Zach Johnson, PE received his BSEE and BSCPE from North Carolina State University. While completing his undergraduate studies, he worked as an electrical engineering CO-OP student at UC Synergetic (formerly Synergetic Design, Inc.). In 2008, he joined Southeastern Consulting Engineers, Inc. as an electrical engineer working on power system studies and distribution design projects for municipal clients. In 2012, he joined Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, Inc. (SEL) as a protection engineer in the engineering services division. Presently, he is one of the three engineering partners for Power Relaying Solutions, PLLC (PRS). He is an active member of IEEE and a professional engineer registered in Georgia, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, and West Virginia.
